It doesn't hurt when I lay on my back. And it's not bad either when I'm just walking around and stuff. It just hurts so much in the nights that I wake up from the pain and can't get back to sleep. What is it?
I can suggest some possibilities, but you need to see a Doc for the best answer. Have you tried to sleep on your side with a pillow between your knees and on down to your ankles? This can relieve the pain you describe, but it's not treating the actual problem. How thick of a pillow varies with every person. It's possible that you have a nerve pinched somewhere in your lower spine. This can easily cause the pain you describe. For this diagnosis, you must see your Doc, who will probably order X-rays or an MRI. The fact that it doesn't bother you when walking and active may indicate it's a 'minor' pinching of a nerve or in the early stages of becoming a problem. I've been avoiding surgery through physical therapy and the pillow between the knees and ankles and the occasional ESI (epidural steroidal injection.) Going to the Doc doesn't have to scare you that you must have surgery.
