Canned foods have a ton of salt and often a lack of essential vitamins and minerals. So take a daily multiple vitamin. There are low salt soups on the market. Think about simple foods like yogurts, fresh fruit, frozen and fresh vegetables, dairy products have lots of protein. Precooked foods for the microwave or frying pan are easy to use. They are frozen or fresh. nuts and dark chocolate, not milk chocolate which has lots of sugar.
Balancing protein with carbohydrates will help maintain weight. Talking to a dietician is a great idea. They know all about diabetes and can give you guidelines on how to eat well and lose weight.
Walking is one of the best ways to start exercising. It burns off calories, easy on the heart and muscles and gets you in touch with the natural world. Even the biggest cities have pockets of beauty, birds singing. We are meant to be outside and so we feel our spirits lift. If you can have a dog they are wonderful to get one outside a few times a day and also have that devoted love that never fails.
Reduce the carbs and balance protein, take walks, and talk to your doctor. You may well be depressed as you have lost interest in cooking, perhaps other activities. We all go through this and your doctor will know and understand. The doctor can help you as well find more answers.
