Also I read that more often than not people with bpd have suffered a trauma or were abused. This worries me because I had a lovely childhood and have fond memories. Is it possible something could have happened when I was very young but cannot remember it?
I had a loving childhood as well. But, my Dr. put me on the lamotragine. I had times when things, or thoughts could trigger depression. This trigger could take me from happy to sad thoughts in moments. The lamotragine kept my happy and sad times alittle less extreme. It evened them out. Some of the down times I had triggered back to my "happy" childhood. I had internalized small things like, the desire to help people. This is a great thing, desire. However, if you can't help for one reason or another it's not healthy to take on the blame for why they need the help in the first place. This brings on guilt.
Hello, I am 22 years old and I was diagnosed with BPD last year. From what I understand, it can either develop from trauma, or you can be born with it (hereditary)
I believe I have BPD from both trauma and being born with it. Seeing videos of myself as a child, I can see my mood changes. I am also on Lamotrigine, 25mg. Keep your head up, with support and understanding we can get through anything!
