Lamotrigine are available in all forms of tablet (XR,ODT,Dispersible,Chewable) What the strong reason of rationale for all forms of tablet? it has plasma half life: 24-35 hr. peak time: 2.2 hr. than why ODT,Dispersible,Chewable forms are developed?? please give me strong reason. (Exept for pediatric, geriatric patients compliance)
But the reasons for the tablet variations are for pediatric use, geriatic use and compliance!
These are huge reasons and the main reasons drug companies use to decide what dose forms they will make their drug in.
Drug companies look at the population that is going to take their drug and then look at dose forms which will help promote ease of taking the tablets and compliance... hence the variety of options... and if a patient finds it easy to take the dosage form they are more likely to take their meds ... and that means more money for the drug company!!!
