Mornings are the best and then I get very depressed as the day goes on and by night it is the worst. I take 100mg every 12 hours.
I took this for just a little while then was changed to Vibrid and is working ok... I took Lamictal after my doctor told me I am bipolar. I will tell you that it is a really, really good happy med. You will have a big change in mood if taken at directed, not missing any doses. I had to stop taking it because it did some strange things to my skin and I already have NF1 that's genetic and cause small tumors on the skin, so it just kinda put salt in the wound for me. But I do think you will start to feel a lot better :) . Also your sleep pattern may change some and may to take something to sleep until you get used to the medication. Best of luck! Keep us updated!
Lamictal will stabilize moods but it is not an antidepressant.
I searched for almost 3 years to find the meds that would help me with anxiety and depression. Effexor worked but it was the Lamictal that really put me back on track. Keep in mind it takes 4-6 weeks to work.
It's a stabilizer. You will have ups and downs but they shouldn't be nearly as bad as better u were taking it. If ur not some where in the middle on your moods. They need to up ur dose or try something else. What is ur other drug? I'm on resperdone. It's an anti psychotic. To keep u from becoming manic or massively depressed. I like seroquel it helps with sleep and works great with lamictal to control ur moods better. The only down fall is seroquel sleeping effect wear off. So u have to up the dose every so often depending on ur body. I've heard good reports about ativan for sleep so maybe u can stay on the same dose of seroquel and use the Ativan for sleep
Each person will have their own reaction to medications, but a common combination of meds for people with BD2 is sertraline and lamotrigine (perhaps also considering propranolol). The sertraline helps with social anxiety/depression and the lamotrigine stabilises mood. Obviously there are other effective medications, but I have experienced weight gain and tiredness with them so it may take trial and error.
