... and now i take a dose of 70mg lamictin per day.. i tried to reduce it but i got symptoms of panic attacks arising so i keep up the 70mg daily.. no one knows for how long it takes to fully recover my health
I have been specifically on Lamictal, but I *have* been on psychiatric medications that either caused, or worsened the severity of, panic attacks and they were either so bad, or happened so often, I had to discontinue the medication and try another similar medication. I don't suggest you try this on your own. However, I DO suggest you speak with your prescribing doctor, tell him/her that you're experiencing panic attacks with the medication, and perhaps they'll switch you from your current medication to another, similar medication that hopefully won't give you panic attacks. I understand that psychiatric medications do have that (probably rare) possibility of causing heightened anxiety and/or panic attacks. Just hang on and take your current dose of medication until you're able to see your doctor. I would call your doctor's office Monday morning and see if you can get in to see them for an "emergency" appointment, they may be able to double book you in to see you on Monday, so they can properly adjust and/or switch your medication.
john947, I agree totally with poisonalice. Every word she said. Everyone is different. Everyone. I take Lamictal. A pretty high dose and it has changed my life, but that doesnt mean everyone can take it. Do exactly what she told you , and I pray you will feel better soon. I have been there,my friend, and it isnt any fun, but just hang on. Your Friend, Ruthie
Hi John. Your right. "No one knows how long it takes to fully recover."
How long does it take for lamotrigine to work? This what I found:
It is very important to tell your doctor how you feel during the first few weeks after you start taking lamotrigine. It will probably take several weeks to see big enough changes in your symptoms to decide if lamotrigine is the right medication for you.
This info is from NAMI (National Alliance on mental Inness.)
I take 400mg of lamictal a day.
I have prayed for you again.
God bless you,
