Hi lynn im having that same problem you need an ultra sound on your knee i was told i have chronic tendonis which involves your tendons at first the doctor told me i had a meniscus tear and a bakers cyst behind the knee and i needed a total knee replacement but then after the surgery the knot is still behind my knee that hurts like heck down the leg and in ankles and foot i found out that it a muscle i never had a meniscus tear or a baker's cyst now about to try physical therapy warm massage treatment i hope this helps you
