and I would like to know how long does a klonopin pill suppost to last
Yes, Klonopin is one of the longest-acting benzodiazepines. It has a 100 hour half-life which means each pill you take stays in your system about 4 days, but the actual effects of the medicine is shorter. So the doc is correct. Thing you have to remember though is it builds in your system as you are taking it on schedule because it stays in the system so long.
I take Klonipine or Clonazepam(generic) 0.5mg lowest dose. Have been for about a yr. straight(1 pill or half pill at night an every now an then half during day if bad day of anxiety) But off & on with rx here an there since 2014. It has half life of 30-40 hrs meaning 50% of drug to get out of the body takes 30 to 40 hrs. Its a longer acting than say ... Xanax or Valium. It takes a very long time to wean off it if you have been on regular for more than month or 2 or 3 even. I mean like having to quarter a pill an dropping a quarter every month or 2 or 3 . I did manage to stop it once . It took 5 months. But I have GAD an my anxiety skyrocketed. Due to alot of stress an caregiver to 82 yr old parent's an have my own family to. an have tried 11 anti-depressants no luck, so got back on Clonazepam 0.5mg pills since March 2017. Also have depression. An menopause. An fibromyalgia. So its been rocky since 2014.
Hope that answers. Never tried Xanax. I wonder what it would be like switching fr clonazepam to xanax??
