I have a court date this Friday and need advice badly. I have severe social anxiety and now I have to go to court! I take .5 mg daily and it helps some. But I have a fear of acting out wildly and being in contempt just because I have mental disorders. What dosage do you think would be good for just the court date to totally calm me down? The .5 works ok, but I can still get a panic attack in a certain situation. Court terrifies me. I want enough to feel anxiety free, but not appear loopy. After court I am just going back to .5 daily. Is 2.0 good, 2.5, 3.0?
Dear Matmico, welcome to the site. It would probably look bad if you appear under the influence and by quadrupling the dose, that is likely to occur. Not trying to be judgemental, just worried that this could happen and that would be bad too and it could knock you out. Talk to your dr and see if a small dose increase is ok for court, that is likely all you would need. Patti
I can complety relate to the stress you are feeling about court. I am also taking .5 of klonopin and I do not have anymore panic attacks but sometimes in certain situations I do feel overly anxious. I have open communication with my doctor and he dose advise me when I am in a situation that I feel I cannot handle to take a little more. It dose the trick every time. However I only have to take 3/4 of the .5
I would suggest you call your dr before you go to court and get his opinion. Taking that much will make your very sleepy. As far as flipping out in court this is just your aniexty controlling you it will not happen. Having a panic disorder dose not mean you crazy although at times you may feel that way . It took me along time to realize this and I hope you will benefit from what I am telling you. I would also suggest that you look into cognitive thepery this has helped me a great deal and have me a much better understanding of what panic attacks are and how you can control them.
