I still have insomnia due to parial seizures and psychosis from anxiety and p.t.s.d. I've tried almost everything, it seems I got close with triazolam but kept waking early on the 15mg meds. Is there something close to triazolam I'm missing out there? And forget Restoril, that didn't even make me sleepy! My mom mentioned if all else fails, Nembutal for a few weeks, then taper down to something else.
Due to its short half-life, triazolam is not effective for patients that suffer from frequent awakenings or early wakening, plus due to its short half life it becomes addictive rather quickly. What kaismama said about nembutal is correct, not many doctors give it. I have tried many sleep aids as I am an insomniac and they all worked for a short time and then stopped working except one and never did I sleep more than 3-4 hrs, besides most sleep aids are only to be taken no more than two weeks. The one medication that did help me was trazodone. If you haven't tried it ask your doctor about it and try it for a couple of weeks, also a small dose is what they start out with then increase it. I now take between 200-300 mg. It works better than all the meds that were made for sleep. Good luck!
