My daughter has severe acne that occasionally turns into large cyst-like infected areas on her face. She has been prescribed doxycycline in the past, but sometimes it doesn't help. What would be the next stronger antibiotic to ask for?
Your daughter's acne sounds like the kind of acne my son had. The cyst like areas would eventually erupt into a fluid, does your daughter's cysts erupt. He had them all over his face and neck and back. I don't recall the antibiotic, but he had to go to a Dermatologist. That is my recommendation. The doctor put my son on a special facial wash, cream for his face and an antibiotic. It wasn't just one thing. Do you know any Dermatologist's. You can always google the American college of Dermatology to help you find one in your State. Good luck to you both, I know it is a hard thing to be going through. Best Wishes.
My daughters both had very bad acne an bad scars on their backs and face. They are 17. At about 15, they went to dermatologist who tried all the creams and antibotics. When that all failed they wanted to put them on accutane, I refused. When I was 15 I went on the pill and had no acne so I suggested to try that. Well their ance, including the painful cysts-went away. They get occasional breakouts when their period is going to start but othere than that, its a miracle. We now use an acne cream on thier backs for the scarring which is going well.
