I was wondering because I have schizoaffective disorder will my kids inherit the gene my husband doesn't have it he is perfectly healthy. I need to know as I am on currently medication and planning on having a family. Will I have to take meds when I'm pregnant? Thanks.
The National Coalition for Health Professional Education in Genetics states that if one parent has schizoaffective disorder, their children have a 27% chance of having SA, too. I'm not sure what medications you are taking, but definitely check with your doctor, pharmacist, or OB/GYN about the risks associated with those prescriptions when you're pregnant or trying to conceive. Rx medications have a pregnancy class from A, B, C, D to X and N. Read more about pregnancy class here : https://www.drugs.com/pregnancy-categories.html
Good luck to you!
