I was on Paxil 40 mg and Effexor 75 XL for 15 years for Fibromyalgia. Now I stopped the Paxil and take Cymbalta 60mg with the Effexor. Is that ok. Should I stop the Effexor and is the Cymbalta alone enough for the Fibromyalgia.
Just started Cymbalta in addition to my Effexor 75 for Fibromyalgia. Could I stop effexor?

I suffer bad insomnia. Could either drug cause it.
I was just reading the side effects of Effexor and they include drowsiness or insomnia. So, it can actually be this that my be causing your sleep problems. I am currently on 30mg of Cymbalta as well as 50mg Amitriptyline and 4mg Suboxone. The combination of the three seem to be doing pretty good for my sleep as well as my fibro. I have been having some flareups but I am attributing that to the weather, as I have been reading on here that a lot of fibro patients are having trouble lately as well.
I hope this helps,
Hello amiraabdin. Yes, cymbalta can cause insommnia. Is it enough for the Fibro. I can't really say since I don't have it. It would surley depend you the dose. Are you on 300mg? I know about the cymbalta for I wasw taking it for my depression/anxiety. As to the effexor, I was on it some years back, stoppede it because of some bad reactions.best to you though, hope you manage to shake the insommnia and get to feeling better as a whole,
taking them together is dangerous. look up seratonin syndrome. please. those doses together could cause significant hypertension, neurological problems and kidney dysfunction. Did a psychiatrist order this? Use this website drugs.com to check possiple interactions. take the information to your doctor-get another one and report him. Doctors use a lot of leeway when prescribing meds but this duo can kill.
