I just picked up my first bottle of mobic this mornig. The dr. prescribed it for my arthritis pain. She did say though not to take it every day for the rest of my life. She said no more than 2 weeks at a time. Do you just take it when you feel you need it more? Or do you take it every day?
If you have the 15mg tablets, you're only supposed to take them once every 24hrs and on a full stomach. If you have the 7.5mg tablets, you can take them every 12 hours. Mobic is not meant for everday pain; although, I know many people who have taken it daily for years. If you take other aspirin-based pain relievers with it, it lessens the effect of mobic. The reason why you're not supposed to take it everyday is because it can cause renal problems. I'm not a pain management expert, I just know these things about mobic because I had to restrain a patient and chipped the bone in my elbow during the process. Hope this helps.
I' had been taking meloxican for several years with 7.5mg in the morning and the same again at night but there are side effects which need to be watched. The biggest issue for me has been the stomach upsets and the inability to take any other products like aspirin or ibuprofen when I have additional pain. Your doctor probably just doesn't want you to have to deal with the side effects. These side effects are the reason why I have just switched over to Celebrex; but I was taking it every day and had been for since 2004. I found meloxicam to be otherwise quite effective and relatively quick acting.
