Would like to hear from ANYBODY who has had this similar surgery on their thumb & wrist joints to remove the arthritis. I am still all swelled up, PT is wanting me to start exercising, & I can't move my thumb at all. It feels numb until I try to force it to move & then the pain is excruiciating to say the least. Suppose to be trying to force it up & down & it goes no where! Can move wrist back & forth about 1/2 inch. Ugh! If I had known it was going to be so bad, I probably wouldn't have had it done. Any help anyone?
Just had my brace removed after 2 months from my surgery?

I haven't had surgery on my hand like you but I have had it numerous times on my foot including to remove arthritis. It is going to take a little time for the joints to loosen up and not be so stiff and painful. I know it hurts. Try to ice it after you exercise. I feel for you hon. I still have pain in my ankle after seven surgeries. It is very frustrating but I promise it will get better. Took me a good 6 months from each of my surgeries before I could say they were worth it. Slow and steady wins the race, so hang in there girl.
Hey Mary632009, I had surgery on left hand a long time ago... I cut it on drink bottle. It cut all veins n artery, I wore a cast for a year. I had to learn to use my fingers n bend my hand again. The cast covered my fingers , hand, all way to elbow. I squeezed oranges, small ones. It hurt like hell, but I needed use of my hand. I took it slow, I just tried thru out day to exercise it... n not overdue it. It got easier each day, it didn't happen overtime... hope this helps... hope u get better soon, don't overdue it.
Hi there Mary. Its Monday morning, and hopefully that pain is less. It figures, you go through the surgery and come out hurting just as much, if not more than you felt and had prior to having it done. As sweetlemon said, rest as much and as best you can. Good thoughts and wishes from the palmetto state, and theres a pot of java (just made) Get to feeling better soon, meaning no more aches and pains.
