... 3 of 8 mgs a day .The taste is horrific. I cant get over it. I cant eat anything everything tases like the pill. It is the generic of suboxone. Help!! I dont want to go back to methadone i cant afford it!!!
Well my first thing is STAY OFF OF METHADONE! My opinion yes.. but Suboxone doesn't taste that bad! I have tasted every type Suboxone/Subutex.. you just need to mentally tell yourself THIS IS HELPING ME... this is keeping me healthy and safe..You will get over it, i as well hated the taste and now its comforting.. Sadly you cant drink or eat it with anything.. just try to drink some soda or fruity drink first swallow... then put it in your mouth and think about the flavor of the drink.. the more you think about it, it becomes a mental problem. try not to be so negative about the taste and think of the bigger things.. like what it is doing for you.. You will be okay and get used to it I PROMISE :)
Did you switch to Methadone? I had an allergic reaction to a medicine that I was prescribed for migraines and on Easter of 2009 I literally died. I flat-lined 3 times and was in a coma for 18 days. Then out of the grace of god a doctor came into my room in the middle of the night and decided to try to Eckmo (sp:) machine on me. IT WORKED! Thank goodness I did wake up and although I had to learn to eat, walk, speak, etc. all over again. All of my organs are 100%. But I ended up with horrible drop foot on both feet and we don't know why, but also horrible bilateral neuropathy. I have been through so many surgeries just so that my feet would actually work so that I could walk again, however we can't seem to control the pain of the neuropathy, because we don't know how I got it. Anyway, I was on 50 mg of the Fentanyl Patch and taking 30 mg of Oxycodone every 4 hours since 2009. 2 weeks ago I was sent to a pain management doc and he switched me to subutex.
I worked great for my addiction I don't want a Oxycodone, however the pain is still HORRIBLE... I am taking 40mg a day of subutex and ZERO pain relief. My doctor wants me to come in tomorrow to switch me to Methadone. He says that will help with the pain. But I have heard soooo many bad things about Methadone and I am super scared. Isn't there anything that he can give me WITH the subutex for the pain? Please help!
Wowza congratulations i am so envious of you !! To me that is a huge deal that you got off methadone oh golly gosh i am so happy for you. Can you maybe let us know how long it took you and how many mg you went down at each time and what it felt like? Please i would be so grateful to hear your story chels come on do it do it !! tell me tell me aaaargh ! ok, im calm now.
Skins1970 on 85mgs chasing you.
125 mgs of methadone is a lot .Here is what i dont know about you. Let me ask you a couple questions .
Are you looking to stop completely?, in as far as taking any medicines for your problem.
Was there an accident you had which got you to this pont of having to take narcotics for pain relief.
OR is there something that manifest itself from a myriad of things which lead people to start taking drugs in gendown this path . Also, This would include not just prescription medicines but any drug legal or not..
There is a wonderful write up on the "drugs.com" website written by someone who really "nailed" it on coming off prescription medicine , or other drugs, legal or not. Introducing you to SUBUTEX but NOT throwing yourself into a detox state and then taking 32 mg of SUBUTEX. It didnt make sense.
To me it made much more sense in that the person explained that "you can gradually take the subutex 1 to 2 mg at a time every 4 hours initially under supervision on your first intake or wehatever until you actually feel better.
Usually 8 to 10 mg max is a good induction to the medicine .
Then once youve established your mg. of Subutex that you take daily , you would , every four days REDUCE the intake of this medicine by 20% .
Of course the closer you get to the last of the medicine youll hazve good and bad days. They say follow up such as meetngs NA,AA and such are crucial for long term effectiveness at staying clean.
I read the section on " You find your self dropping down 20% one day, yet your still not well then stay where your at and DONT srop down 20% . Rather wait another four days . and try it again.
It seemed logical to me and I actually downloaded it for my doctor to read.
"You dont"... want to stay on Suboxone or Subutwex for a long time. I mean, If you do, coming off it I hear is vicous . There is no known detox from Suboxone ,remember you have whats called OPIATE AGANISTS and OPIATE ANTAGONISTS. In essence , Suboxone is just another opiate your switching to come off another opiate .
It mentioned in the article If your starting at a low dose and gradually coming off the medicine ots ok to be on it for 8 to 12 weeks. you just DONT want to find yourself one day saying. Oh no. Its ben a year! Good luck to you and please look for the write up on here. its very good . And of course . Im not very good at laying out all the details of this method . They themselves are not MDS but work along side them. So, There is a lot of validity to this article.
