My fiance just had that procedure done with dialation now his jaw and neck are very swollen is that normal.
Why would the jaw and neck swell after having an esophagogastroduodenoscopy?

I've had a couple of endoscopies and in my experience (the first one they couldn't sedate me and asked if I would tolerate it awake). That one gave me a rough feeling throat for 24 hours and the second one where they found six bleeding duodenal ulcers was completely painless post op as they used a general anaesthetic. I would tell him to see a doctor (although I don't understand what done with dilation means as in my case when I was awake they inflated a balloon in my stomach to anchor the scope while they wiggled it into my duodenum).
