... to take hydrocodone for a brief time afterwards. when i was abusing pain meds a 30 mg oxy instant release gave me some pretty good euphoria. swallowed by the way... but heres my question... How many hours after my last dose of 8mg suboxone will i have to wait for other opiates to be effective, and just out of curiosity after those said hours would a 30 mg ir oxy still have the same effect on me as it did before i started suboxone? or has the suboxone raised my tolerance to all opiates
It varies from person to person, but a couple of days to 5 days depending on how high the dose of subs is. You are only on 8 mgs, so, you won't have to wait as long as someone who takes 16 or more mgs. You do DEFINITELY need to tell your subs doctor AND the person who will put you under, the above poster is correct, they use benzos sometimes with anesthesia and it could have a bad effect combining with suboxone. Call your subs doctor AS SOON AS POSS. and also find out who will put you to sleep. There is a way to somehow get off the subs and onto opiates pre surgery, but, they never even would hint of it in my group counseling. They were afraid patients would want all types of surgeries to get off the subs and feel legit on opiates. It will throw a person into precip to take subs while opiates are still on the brain receptor sites, but that won't happen subs to opiates. It will just block the opiates for a while. Patti
