... Does anyone know the difference? Is the Oxycontin more effective on pain then the Hydrocodone. It seems that going from 325 mg of Hydrocod to only 10mg of Oxycontin that I am going to be left in killer pain. I forgot to ask and of course it's friday after 5pm... any help appreciated but only if you are knowledgable about the 2 drugs. I'm in liver failure so I just want to know I won't be suffering. Thank you kindly : )
The oxycontin is stronger than the hydrocodone. The oxy is also extended release so it will last longer in your system than the hydrocodone was. You'll be taking the oxy less times a day because of this. The 325 refers to the amount of acetominaphen (tylenol) that is mixed with the 10 hydrocodone.
Hope this helps,
as Laurie is saying these medications are different in that they work different, I am trying to get my thoughts straight, its true the thing you will be missing is 325mg acetaminophen (Tylenol) and instead you will be getting a dose of oxycontin released into you system on a continious dose, it is actually stronger than the hydrocodone. so all in all you are getting a better dose of pain medication that will continually release into your system, I think you will find you are more comfortable, I think any questions about your liver you may have by now talked with your doctor on the phone if not in order to ease your mind you just need to voice your concerns. It is my sincere hope of not only me but everyone who is on this site that you are feeling much better, please keep us posted,
