I've been on Suboxone for 2 months now. Yesterday I had a procedure on my wrist and said if I can stick it out for 48 hrs off Sub, I can take a percocet if needed. (he gave me 5) I've just read some postings on this website and learned more here than I have all the times at the Dr. I haven't taken sub now for 24 hrs but is it true that not only won't I feel the effects of a percocet, that if I remain off Sub, the w/d gets worse on day 3? I guess I wanted to believe this was too good to be true and no more detoxes were needed., Ty for all the info I've read so far. I think the people who post are so sincere in their advice
From what I have read (I am far from an expert on subs) the subs could remain effective for up to 3 days but stay in your system longer. Personally, if you can bear the pain, I would just continue on your daily regiment of suboxone. Because then you have to wait again, go through some wd's from the perc's you have, before you can start up on the subs. It sounds like too much of a merry go round. If you could handle the pain for a few days, try and stay on the subs. This is only my opinion and I do not know how much pain you are in so please forgive me. Yet it seems like a guessing game as when you can or can not take other meds. You need to be especially careful when resuming the sub therapy. I would worry more about that then when it's ok to take the perc's now. Whatever you decide, please be safe. I hope you feel better soon and have a speedy recovery! As far as your major procedure in Feb., that's a whole 'nother issue.
2bfree, you have only been on subs for 2 months, not months and months or years like some of us, You shouldn't have much withdrawal. Talk to your subs doctor if you have pain issues to see how it should be handled and let him/her know of upcoming surgery. You might be switched to subutex instead.
