negative thoughts about my relationship n don't know why. I love this person very much n we have a 3 yea old daugther but my negative thinking takes over n one thought leads to another n then the anxiety sets in. I'm very scared of all of this. I don't want to ruin my relationship with my family... Pls if anyone has suggestions or good opinions pls let me know. When I do take Xanax it does relax me n there's no negative thoughts but will I have to take it for the rest of my life?
Hi Jaida, I think u should talk to your dr about putting u on some kind of anti-depressant. I take celexa for anxiety. He started me out at 20 mg about a yr ago, and I just recently went up to 40. Different anti-depressants work different for different people, but there r also zoloft, paxil, just to name a few. They are non narcotic and take about 2-6 wks before they really take an effect. After the 6wks if u feel better, maybe talk to your dr abt coming off the xanax. It us narcotic and can be very addictive. It really sounds to me that is the route u should go, but u just have to be patient until u find the right one for u. Don't give up if the first one doesn't work. U will find it. I highly recommend celexa but it may or may not do the same for u. Just call your dr. GOOD LUCK andlet me know how things work. ANNA
if the doctor has no problem with the Xanax and you don't have to use it every day (unless prescribed that way) then it might be something to stay with on the other hand if things are up and down then talk with the doctor openly about an antidepressant such as Celexa, Lexapro or one of the other I was just throwing some out as an example, do things get worse at a certain time of the month or are you having continual problems, the next question does the Xanax relieve it enough until both you and the doctor feel comfortable with doing this? there are many options ask questions after all that is why you pay him ( an answer my doctor would say) please be safe and let us know how you are doing
I had the same problem, but in my case I was already taking Wellibutrin for depression. I talked to my Doc. and he prescribed 10 mg. of Lexapro. It really evened me out and I didn't have any side effects. The thing that I liked about Lexapro is even though I don't like taking a med everday, I didn't experience those wild mood swings at all. With Zanax you typically take it at the onset of symptoms. I prefer not to even have those symptoms.
I suggest talking to your Doc. there are so many things to try and he/she can steer you towards the one that makes sense for your situation. Good luck!
I've had anxiety my whole life (even at 5 I had panic attacks). When I was 25 I was prescribed Celexa and i remember to this day it lowered my anxiety by 1/2. Now i'm 43 and the celexa doesn't work anymore, but what i'm saying is that there's relief out there and no you don't have to be on xanax your whole life. I take it here and there PRN. They have specific med for PMS related depression/anxiety, you could ask your dc about that, if this is happening around that time of the month. just a thought...
