wondering if you have witnessed a progressive weakness in the spine due to this. As in scoliosis. My son along with others that have cerebral palsy have all had to have scoliosis surgery (rods). With the last surgery his catheter has come loose (3rd time) and is now going thru with drawls (having serious leg spasms) resulting in an extended stay in the hospital. Please contact me if this has happened with your child (
I have quad athetoid CP with a scoliosis but didn't have the chance to have corrective surgery, so no rods sorry.. I wish I could help as I only take oral baclofen, so no pump either.. I do wear a body brace to try and keep my back/spine straight but my top (shoulders) are now twisting me like a corkscrew... I'm a great believer in hydrotherapy and still swim each week at the age of 53.. Is it possible to get you son into a hot tub/spa or hydrotherapy pool and get his legs moving more, as I find the heat from the water helps to relax my spasms, especially my legs???
If you want to ask any more questions or if I can be more helpful, please just ask??? I really feel for you and your son but I'm sure his medical team will be able to help.. Message me if you prefer, ok.. Mike :)
