Generally speaking Isoptin in tablet form is used as a retard or SR (steady release). I'm going to take a wild guess, since you didn't seem to find it important to elaborate on the condition, that it's some type of arrhythmia.
That usually requires RIGHT NOW effect, hence the IV inject.
