She has very hard periods and her mother decided to see a family doctor instead of a female specialist and they put her on this, she is throwing up after taking it, stomach pain, low grade fever. breast tenderness. Is this drug good for a 13 yr old?
birth control is the best thing to regulate periods. it can make them more light or take them away completely. if she is reacting badly to this medication, then it might be best to take her to a ob/gyn and try a different birth control. please stress to her that just because she is on birth control doesnt mean she should have sex. im 25... i was 13 when i lost my virginity. luckily i never got an std or got pregnant (before i was 20)... please be open and honest with her. there are alot of bad guys out there... alot of diseases... and she could miss a dose and become pregnant and ruin her life forever. im sure she is a good kid. i just want to stress the importance of being honest within the family about sex. if a parent is too ignorant about it and doesnt discuss it with their kids, then they may never know if the kids are having sex. she should feel like she can talk to you guys about ANYTHING. im sorry if im babbling or overstepping my boundaries. i know this is strictly about her period... but i would hate for her to ruin her life by assuming she should become sexually active. again... im really sorry if im overstepping my boundaries!!! im just trying to be helpful because of my teenage experiences from peer pressure and heartbreaks
