I've been on prescription meds for over 3 yrs go for epidurals alot, trigger point infections and acuptuncture. this is after doing years of chiropractor, physical therepy and aromatherapy. Nothing works, not even the pills. I can get up and walk atleast with a limp and still pain but never happy anymore. Can't sit up straight for more than a hour or walk. 3 things i do grocery shop, laundry and dishes. now its like every 3 wks its a killer takes 2 hours getting off my legs taking more meds b4 I feel a bit comfortable on couch with pillows supporting neck and thorasic spine. Life sucks. they just put me on anti depressants they make like worse. even more depressing. Isnt's there something I can try to slowly stop everything and start something natural that relieves pain.
I, personally, don't know of anything but I do have some ideas you can look into. #1 You can try going to a naturopathic doctor. They usually don't accept insurance so it is cash only and can be expensive but then again so are epidurals, trigger points, and many pain meds. They do know all the herbal treatments and vitamins, and dietary approaches. #2 Have you talked to your chiropractor? Many times they might know some natural cures. Since they don't usually prescribe meds, they sometimes know of herbal remedies. Have you tried massage therapy at all? I also know of several people who swear by inversion tables but I haven't tried it. Be very careful with inversion though. You could be injured worse depending on what is wrong with your back. You didn't say what all is going on with your back. On the same vein some chiropractors do VAX-D which is similar to inversion, in principle. They both are for increasing space between the vertebrae. Good Luck and keep us all posted especially if you find something that works!!!
I have serious problems with the throacic spine, a break in the subsclavian line, there is progressive kyphosis with multilevel compression deformities with fractures that affect T9 through T-12 I have many side effects from various pain medications so I have tried things such as Lidoderm patches, they don't help everyone and they come by prescription on 12 hours off 12 hours, I also have bought some of the over the counter patches that are cold at first and then they warm up I can't get what I need from a heating pad but these seem to do just enough to distract me from noticing it as bad as it usually is I know these seem simple and may not work for you, but somethings are at least worth a try Bioflex is a cream and a rollon that sometimes helps my mother she is 93 has sebere pain in her back, it's kind of trial and error, sometimes using some of the lesser medications like the muscle relaxers work and you don't have to go the route of pain medication I wish you only the best and hope in some way this will help caringsonbj another thought my mother had me buy her a shawl like thing that contained like ?flax seeds and you put them in the microwave and put them on her back and they gave her some relief again I wish you the best
