... constant pain. I have developed an low ogygen level, found in taking a sleep test. At the time I was and am taking 4 10mg lortab a day... I also take zanax .5, 2 to 3 times a day... I still hurt, , know I am old we but have lost a quailty of life situation. I quit (tried) the pills but the pain is overcoming all else. Now get this, not boasting but I have never drank, smoked and have no idea what "pot" is about ... can anyone give me a word of encouragement. I am alone, and with systoms of RA, it is hard to function like I did even 4 years ago
Are you on any anti-inflammatory? There is also methotrexate to consider for RA. Back pain is tough. I'm not even near 71 but I see some 70 y/o that I envy because they are getting around better than me-my mom is one of them! I have back pain and I'm trying very hard to avoid surgery but I had a second Dr tell me a fusion should be considered. I take a long acting oxycodone preparation. I think using the long acting meds is the way to go for chronic pain. You get good steady relief for a good eight hours-on bad days six hours and when I need to I take a short acting oxycodone for the "breakthrough" pain. It really helps keep you more comfortable. the short acting meds-you are lucky to get a hour or two of relief then you are watching the clock for the next one! Try to get out and about as much as you can. Sitting around the house just makes it worse. If I can get out with friends or family and try to enjoy myself I feel better. It is hard and some days you realy have to make yourself but even getting out a couple hours helps. Join a club or do crafts or something to help get your mind occupied. I read. I find escaping into a book helps keep my mind off the pain. I'm so sorry that you feel alone. There are a lot of great folks on this site who are a great support system-come visit anytime! :)
