I realize this answer is very late but may help someone in future.
Actually Pentasa (mesalamine) can cause peripheral neuropathy ... but it is classed as a rare side effect.
There is an interaction between Pentasa and mercaptopurine ... and perhaps all this can cause peripheral neuropathy.
