The Feds recently stated that some Zocor users (livers) were not properly metabolizing it therefor benefits were nil.
I don't know whether there is a test to determine how well the liver metabolizes Zocor but I'm pretty sure a test can be done to determine how much of the active metabolite is present (and could work out relative to the dose whether that person was a good metabolizer or not). Zocor also undergoes extensive first pass extraction by the liver so very little drug is available in the general circulation.
