Yes... since they dont know what causes ALS, Drs test for things that are similar to ALS and cause similar symptoms. so before they can say you have ALS, they have to test and rule out other diseases. I know there is an illness JUST like ALS except the muscle deterioration is slower and there is treatment that someone would be able to regain mobility. i cant remember what its called bc i found it online years ago but im sure you can find it and others online and they will tell you what tests are used for each one.
