There is no known safe level for using alcohol during any stage of pregnancy. If you are pregnant and take a drink -- a glass of wine, a beer or a cocktail -- your unborn child takes the same drink.
It is advised that any woman who is pregnant or wishing to get pregnant should not drink alcohol, or at least drink only occasionally. Alcohol is also best avoided while breastfeeding, as alcohol can pass through the milk to the baby.
