... disease and it is very expensive. Looking to cut costs
I'm no expert, but I have been on Seroquel for several years now and have never been prescribed a generic form. In England our healthcare is free so they are always looking for ways to cut costs, so I think I would have been given the generic if there was one. Tell your husband that I use Seroquel for bipolar too and have found it to be and excellent medication. It would be such a shame if he had to stop taking it. I sometimes forget how lucky I am to live here where I don't have to worry about paying for medication. I hope you find an answer to your problem. Julie
Try going to the manufacturer's website and looking for information about a Seroquel discount card. A couple of months ago, drug reps were here at my hospital talking to us about a new discount program that Seroquel was starting. I don't remember exactly how it worked, but I know it had a card and it was to help people afford the medication if they could not pay the prescription cost. Hope this helps!
My husband and I are both on Seroquel. In September 2011 their patent will expire and companies will be able to make a generic version. Right now you can purchase generic seroquel through Canada. Medicine through Canada is a lot cheaper and that has been good for us while we've been without insurance. The pharmacy web site I use is Blue Sky Drugs. You still need a prescription and they sell pills by the hundred. So your prescription must reflect those numbers. Seroquel has worked well for us which is why we wanted to stay on it even when we didn't have health insurance. Good luck.
