I am overweight by 100 lbs, and I feel the main reason is because I overeat to compensate for anxiety and/or depression. I wonder if the right drug therapy could help. I always feel like I am running low on energy. I have taken Xanax before and it helps but I don't want to get addicted to anything.
Many of the antidepressants also help with anxiety and can have the added benefit of loss of appetite. Unfortunately we all respond differently to these medicines and some people gain weight on them. You would just have to try one and see how you do. I recommend Lexapro. One of the common side effects of Lexapro is loss of appetite. It is non addictive and very effective against depression and anxiety.
Of course, you will still have to watch what you eat. Bottom line is the calories burned must be greater than the calories consumed in order to lose weight. Getting the depression and anxiety undercontrol may well help your efforts to lose weight.
Hey hunnie if your laid back and seem to be " under control" do you think it could be something other than anxiety?? Such as maybe ADD because if your mind is a never ending, always changeing, & hard to concentrate maybe there is another issue... and those drugs decrease hunger greately but have a tendency to be most addictive. I am just asking what kind of restless mind you have..I have severe anxiety and when at my worst I cant breath, move, feel like im dieing , get soooo dizzy... and when my anxiety is at its best i'm worried, embarrassed "for no reason", Read into everything everyone says, think the worst in situations... but if your mind is an endless jumping around from t"thing to thimg" and concentration is bad and you procrastinate or start more than two things in a day and dont follow through...
that can be depressing and cause weight gain snd more sitting then moveing due to being overwhelmed. I do not kno your situation and you are probably are full of anxiety ... i am only saying if you are anxious you yourself kno... but if there is more to it you should talk to a doc... im not judgeing I only know that when I have bad anxiety the people around me can tell by my behavior and even when in denial they pick it out.. God bless you and I hope you feel better and kno matter what depression is depression and i find that along with lexapro... effexor is also a hunger blaster... but if you are on the right track and your doc has a prescript he wants you on there are weight loss pills that can be prescribed in some cases and they really tend to work well also... so when you go to the doc, make sure you ask him about all of your options hun.I hope that very, very aooon you are decreaseing in weight and happy... less anxious and most of all being the most beautiful person you can be and already are... (everyone is made to be unique, special, and diffrent. best wishes
