are alprazolam (xanax) and clonazepam (clonopin) even related, and if so, then what is the difference between them?

Alprazolam is the generic of Xanax. Xanax, & Clonazepam are both benzodiazepines. Alprazolam is used in the treatment of panic disorders & other disorders. Clonazepam is used to treat certain convulsive disorders(seizures) such as epilepsy. They both can be used for other disorders as determined by your doctor. Hope this helps...
