I used to be prescribed Oxycontin now my doctor prescribed Opana. I am now wondering what the similarities and differences of these two drugs are. Hopefully i can get some honest answers to this question. Thank you all who answer. It is greatly appreciated.
Opana is more like a stronger morphine - oxymorphone hydrochloride ... semi-synthetic opioid
Oxycontin is the drug- oxycodone hydrochloride ____) dont remember the last part
the difference is oxycodone is synthetic while opana is more closely related to the organic morphine... also oxycontin is extended relase and opana is is immidate release for breakthrough pain
