I am a lupus patient and need something for pain management but do not want to risk the health of my baby. I can not stand the pain, it is deep and throbbing twenty four hours a day. I never get a break from the pain.

Because tramadol is narcotic-like it is addictive meaning that you will experience withdrawals if you stopping taking abruptly without tapering off. Also, if you take tramadol through the pregnancy, the baby will go through withdrawal as well. You'll need to discuss the risks verses the benefits with the obstetrician. Maybe he/she can recommend something less harmful to the baby.
