Is the efficacy of polymixin b more than that of polymixin e for mdr pseudomonas and acinetobacter spp.?
From researching the internet I have found that both are polymixin antibiotics.
Colistin (Polymyxin E) is only used topically in combination with steroids and other antibiotics. It is often used to treat drug resistant infections eg. Pseudomonas areuginosa.
Polymixin B is used topically to treat eye, ear and skin infections. It is also used parenterally (IV) to treat known susceptible organisms. It can cause kidney damage.
It would depend on what you are treating as to which would work better (if any)
