I was diagnosed 6 years ago; it is incurable but can be managed for many years. As my oncologist told me; too much of a good thing can be a bad thing:).

thru regular check up,proper medication and healthy lifestyle im so sure we will still live a longer life... i am not 80% well compared to what i was before (diagnosed december 2011) ,now i am very much careful,taking too many meds is really tiring but we have to do it else we will suffer more...

Hi Matthew- I'm new to this site- I see you asked your question quite some time ago and most likely have found an answer by now. But- just in case- here's what I've learned: Polycythemia Vera is not curable at this time, only controllable. -Nikkismom
