I have been taking Norco 10/325's 6-8 times a day for about 3 years now for problems with my back, 3 problems as a matter of fact, surgery is not an option. So, I saw my Doctor last friday and I asked him for a longer acting pain reliever and stated to him that I am afraid of what all that Tylenol is doing to my liver, so he prescribed 20mg Oxycontin for to take 2 times a day. Is this going to be better for me and is it going to handle the pain as well as the Norco has been? And does Oxycontin have Tylenol in it?
It amazes me that the patient has to tell the doctor about the damage acetaminophen can cause to your liver! Your doctor should have told you. 3 years is a long time to be on norco's. And no, oxycontin does not have acetaminophen. Unfortunately for me, my back issues required surgery, still have another one to go. I know how debilitating back pain can be so I can relate with you on that. The difference between your old hydrocodone, and the new oxycodone, is it will provide better, longer lasting relief.
Good luck on your new medications.

I was prescribed Norco 10/325 after two failed surgeries. Years later, Norco is no longer effective?
