I had hip surgery 5 months ago. Still have tremendous groin and lower back pain when not on Meloxicam. Pain is manageable when on the med. I have diverticulitis and am concern about that - one colon surgery already. My doc thinks I need either a new hip or resurfacing. Should I postpone this step my relying on Meloxicam or am I doing even more damage?
you should bring up this problem with your doctor due to the possibility of nerve damage from the previous surgery they may have to deaden the nerves in order to keep off pain meds. Meloxican over a long period of time(years) can have a degredating affect on your stomach and make you more susceptable to stomach ulcers. but this question should definitely be brought up at your next doc appt.
