My husband's doctor just prescribed him Lexapro, and I've read the side effects and warnings about if I take it while pregnant. Nothing has been stated about getting pregnant with this drug in my husband's system. Any help would be greatly appeciated.
There are no studies to actually show whether Lexapro affects the sperm of the male animal adversely. The teratogenicity of Lexapro in animal studies is low but does exist. It is unlikely that the Lexapro would affect the sperm but I suppose the possibility exists. Men produce new sperm regularly and therefore have less possibility of being affected by drug use.
