This is my 5th day of starting gianvi and I did have unprotected sex the next following day, can I possibly be pregnant? Can I still take plan b as a back up method to be safe on my 5th day? Help! Thanks!
Dear Tee, welcome and unfortunately you need to call your dr on this one, I suspect they will tell you to take the Plan B to be safe, but I can't legally tell you. If you were on another birth control pill before the Gianvi, then you won't, but if this is your first pack ever, then you didn't get told to take all 21 active pills before counting on the safety of not getting pregnant. If you have to take the Plan B, it will likely mess your cycle up, but at least you are reducing the chance of you getting pregnant. Proper birth control pill protocol says you are safe after 7 days of correctly taking the active pills, but if you don't want to take chances, you need to take the whole regimen of 21 active pills correctly to prevent pregnancy. Call your dr and don't feak if you miss your cycle when you do the inactive pills, you likely will miss your cycle, your body will be getting used to the Gianvi and you might have to take Plan B, this is going to wreak a bit of havoc with your cycle, it could do anything at this point.
