I've been on gleevec for 5years now, and want to extend my family, can i discontinue it for a period of a year and then continue with it again, is it possible?
Gleevec (Imatinib) has been assigned to pregnancy category D by the FDA.
There is evidence that Gleevec may cause birth defects or other problems.
However, generally, the benefits of this medicine are seen to outweigh the risks.
You need to make an appointment with your doctor to discuss your options.
