my son took mucinex d and still has a head ache.
what can he take with mucinex d?
He can definitely take Excedrin (acetaminophen/aspirin/caffeine) or any other acetaminophen or ibuprofen (provided ibuprofen is not contraindicated in his circumstance) containing pain relief. Mucinex D contains guaifenesin/pseudoephedrine, which are not pain relief medicines.
Guaifenesin is an expectorant. It helps loosen congestion in your chest and throat, making it easier to cough out through your mouth.
Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant that shrinks blood vessels in the nasal passages. Dilated blood vessels can cause nasal congestion (stuffy nose).
