No you have to take lexapro constantly,its an anti depressant not a benzodiazapine,therefore it takes up to at least 4weeks for it to build up in your system for you to notice a change in mood/behaviour.You cannot stop or start when you want.You should discuss this with your doc before taking anything so you can be assesed for your condition and be advised what meds are right for you.
Lexapro must build up in the blood stream in order to be affective. You must take is consistently (daily) to keep it at a theraputic level in the blood stream. If you don't take it daily it won't work like it is suppose to. So it is not good to take it for a couple days then not take it for a few days, etc. nor is it good to just take it when you want to.
