Be it your medication or a family members
Most states can require a person to show ID when picking up controlled meds. They dont always follow through with it but some pharmacies do. My pharmacy has a sign that says "positive ID required to pick up controlled prescriptions" although most of the time they do not ask. They can also call a Drs office to verify the Rx is legit to make sure it isnt a false Rx written on a stolen Rx pad or some such thing and also to verify it has not been altered in any way. I have picked up morphine for my Dad though and wasnt asked for ID but they are within their right to do so if they want to (pharmacies I mean) As to whether it is required I'm not sure-you would have to check CA state laws. You can try googling CA State Board of Pharmacy to see if they have anything about it on there as a place to start. Sorry I dont have a definitive answer for you. Perhaps someone else will know for sure.
