Clonazepam is not the same as Xanax (alprazolam) but it is similar.
Both drugs belong to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines. They are used to treat anxiety, insmonia, agitation, seizures, muscle spasms, alcohol withdrawal and as a premedication for medical or dental procedures.
The effects of Xanax will be felt sooner than clonazepam but will not last as long.
