Is clonazepan a narcotic drug?

No, it is a benzodiazepine tranquilizer and it is a sedative. It can also relax the muscles and work on nerve pain, but, is not considered a narcotic.

I have been on CLONAZOPAM for years. As Patti said, it is a benzodiazepine . In my case, I have always used it for anxiety. But I always found it strange that it is not consisdered a controlled substance, as Valium, Xanax, Ativan, And so on... are.
