Bipolar Disorder is quite different from ADHD. The links below may help but your doctor could probably explain it better.
Im not quite sure either. I was diagnosed with both. I've been treated with meds for depression but didn't cover every symptom. I finally sat down with a pen and paper, and wrote down the symptoms of each. I was shocked to see just how similar the two were! When I approached my phy with my results, he told me they can run so parallel, its often the problem with treatment. This being because you have to see what symptoms are helped by what drugs, and close in from there. The way Im trying to look at this now, is by checking off one by one, the problems being eased by the meds, and not by the "labeling" of what's behind it so much. That was enough to send me over the edge.
