I have had an ulcer on my leg for 18 months, and expect to begin treatment with Humira today. What experiences have people been having with this drug/diagnosis?
I had 8 ulcers in Jan, 2 severe on my leg. All have healed but I've had 3 more breakouts since, although they have not been as bad as the 1st. I have been on Cyclosporine, which has helped some. Since I also have Ulcerative colitis I was told this is why they are coming back & will need a different type of treatment. I will begin the Remicade in 3 weeks. I was told Humira is also excellent but I just can't get over giving myself the shots.
I had PPG Peristomal Pydoerma Gangrenosum after my surgery to have a stoma. The ostomy nurse tried everything from topical creams, steroid sprays etc. In the end I had to go back on my Humira injections but I also had to get steroid injections directly into the PPG. A combination of both the Humira and steroid injections were the key to it healling up. Good Luck
