I have been prescrided this drugs for an anxiety, after I quited smoking almost 7 weeks ago,the doses are 0.5mg twice a day,but so far I take only one a day for a bout 5 days, and the full doses twice a day 2 days ago.My concerned at this point is that,am I addicted to it yet?.
Yes, xanax is considered by many to be one of the most addictive drugs. However, becoming addicted is more than just the drug causing you to do so. Other things like a history of drug or alcohol dependence and considering yourself to have a less than strong mindset can increase tendency to become "addicted". The drug itself is, in this case, a very strong factor. I've been on several bezodiazepines including klonopin, attivan, restoril, and currently xanax for the past few months and havent had any dependency issues, but thats just me. I would stress the importance of only taking this drug when absolutely needed to get through the day, this way you can greatly decrease the chance of addiction. I'm not a doctor, so the person prescribing the med to you would have the best opinion so you should have a chat with him/her.
